Lab member attend Cold Spring Harbor Summer Course - Hypoglycemia & Diabetes
On June 10h, The course will be held at the Laboratory’s Banbury Conference Center located on the north shore of Long Island, NY, US. Organized by Shareen Forbes from University of Edinburgh, David Piston from Washington University and Patrik Rorsman from University of Oxford. Diabetic hypoglycemia brings long- and short-term health hazards requiring translational basic-clinical research; this course reviews its basics, latest findings, unresolved questions and glucagon-related therapeutic prospects through lectures, discussions and one-on-one exchanges with senior scholars. Studies on diabetes-induced molecular and cellular changes, empowered by modern omics and cell biology technologies, facilitate systematic multi-organ modeling of hypoglycemia to optimize clinical management and identify new therapeutic targets, with applications open to students, postdocs and faculty. Dr. Huixia Ren contributed a lecture titled Alpha Cell Signaling in Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia. Everyone also enjoyed the karaoke night and UNO games afterwards!
